That wasn’t today. It was yesterday, Friday, 11th! Associates of the Ghana Fellowship of Evangelical Students (GHAFES) met at the University of Cape Coast library basement. A roll call won’t be helpful here,but it’s worth mentioning names like Uncle Ebo, Dr. Kafui, Dr.& Mrs. Kwapong, Uncle Victor, Sammy Asiedu, Dr & Mrs. Boadi Siaw, Bro Kingsley among a host of others. The whole atmosphere was awesome and more like the safest haven as these senior members interacted with love.
Of a greater interest is their sharing time: Rev. Duodu reiterated the need to encourage the younger generation into ministry as this was never done by the Methodist church nor the Scripture Union in their younger days. He further explained that the reluctant attitude of the then vibrant Christians to assume leadership in the church led to the occupancy of such positions by people of the lodge who stunted the growth of the church. The need to erase the mentality that ministers of God live poor lives is also worth mention. Citing an instance of the Methodist church Rev. Duodu explained they live one of the best lives on earth.
Dr. Kafui Etsey also suggested meetings of associated which took the form of praise and worship as well as rallies, explaining such programmes are very refreshing.
Victor Obeng, the secretary for the zone appealed for suggestions directed towards making the year a very successful. A call by Dr. Mrs Ford for his contact suggested the associates will reach him with information as to when it is due.
There was enough to eat and drink amidst socialization here and there.
